14 members fished the Club Open Day at Millhall on Saturday 5th September. A total of 40 fish were caught, but only 31 were weighed in due to Venue restrictions on their maximum “kill” size and one member choosing to fish full Catch & Release.
On the day 5no fish over the 6lb limit were caught and released. This included 4no double figure trout. Willie Orr caught 3no fish for an estimated weight of 30lbs. The heaviest bag of the day. Unfortunately two of his fish had an estimated combined weight of 27.5lbs, so had to be released. Catching two double- figure trout in one day is highly unusual and deserves a special mention.
David Manion, Ken Overton and John Reynolds also all had fish over the maximum kill size.
Heaviest bag of the day was weighed in by John Convoy narrowly bettering Harry Millar’s bag of 9lb 8oz by 6 ounces. As Harry had the heaviest weighed-in fish at 3lb14oz, he won the heaviest fish of the day prize. Therefore, second place for bag size became Lindsay McFadzean, with joint thirds being Michael Love and Ian Macdonald, with 7lbs for 4 fish.
Thanks are due to Bridget McGee for providing a hot buffet while keeping to the current Covid-19 rules.
