Post Marches Day - Linlithgow Loch

Wednesday 17th June 2009 was slightly overcast with gusting winds from the west. Anglers tended towards the motorway side of the loch, other than George and Alastair who headed towards the east end. Later reports of heavy weed growth in the eastern bays kept most anglers to the town bay areas.

Millhall Fishery Outing 25/6/09

Anglers were met with reasonably good weather for this evening session at Millhall. Wind was initially light but began to swirl from the east. The odd fish was seen rising mear the holding nets but otherwise there was little or no surface activity.

Linlithgow Loch Outing 31st May 2009

The six members of LAC who fished Linlithgow Loch on 31/5/09 were fortunate in having a fine dry day and also a strong easterly breeze, but as you will see from the results, the trout did not cooperate to any extent. It was suggested afterwards that they would be on the bottom having 'Cordon Bleu' snails for dinnerperhaps with 'Premier Cru' Chablis to wash them down.

Beware – Aliens!!

You can hardly broach fishing topics these days without coming across reference to alien species affecting our rivers. Mink, American Signal Crayfish, Chinese Mitten Crabs, Giant Hogweed, Himalayan Balsam, and Japanese Knotweed are just some of the animals and invasive plants that are burgeoning and threatening native species. We have two invasive plants on the banks of the Avon which we could do without – balsam and knotweed. They poke their noses out of the ground in May, and by July are reaching for the sky.
