The six members of LAC who fished Linlithgow Loch on 31/5/09 were fortunate in having a fine dry day and also a strong easterly breeze, but as you will see from the results, the trout did not cooperate to any extent. It was suggested afterwards that they would be on the bottom having 'Cordon Bleu' snails for dinnerperhaps with 'Premier Cru' Chablis to wash them down.
The water temperature was high and the trout seek the deeper water in those conditions and such seemed to be the case. Mermbers tried various parts of the loch but few fish were apparent. The most successful member used small, fairly dark flies that perhaps could be mistaken for snails by the trout. Yes it was a disappointing day for our anglers and it was proved two days later that the trout were catchaable in the deep water on High-D lines and boobies. Reported by David Armour. |
